Imprimerie FL Web Invests $11 M, Becoming One Of Canada’s Most Advanced Printers

Saint-Germain-de-Grantham, June 12, 2018—Imprimerie FL Web President François Chicoine proudly announced the acquisition of a Goss Sunday 3000 48-page rotary press, at a press conference. This state-of-the-art equipment makes the firm one of Canada’s most advanced printhouses, putting it at the top of its industry. This major $11 M investment has permitted the creation of some 40 jobs—a figure that could triple. The printhouse has had to double building space—from 40,000 to 80,000 square feet—to house this vast two-story high, 185’ long press.

Unequalled Performance

With this new high-speed press, Imprimerie FL Web has become the first and only Canadian printhouse than can simultaneously produce 48 perfect-bound (magazine style) pages. This purchase has enabled the company to triple production to over 4.3 M pages/hour. Imprimerie FL Web has turned into one of Canada’s highest output print operations, with operating speed (3,000’/min.) and press width (114”) delivering performance unmatched by any other Canadian printer.

This new leading-edge equipment distinguishes the family firm stand in several areas. It has the sole folding machine of its kind in North America—the only other comparable one being in Europe. The equipment’s exceptional ease-of-use gives the company great freedom in fold, paper and section selection. Market Growth

Imprimerie FL Web plans to broaden its client base by bringing in major accounts with huge weekly print volumes. “Such growth is consistent with our personalized approach and family-business values, focused on client service,” noted president François Chicoine, whose wife and five children work for the firm. The Quebec printer also wants to win over the Ontario and US markets. He intends to double company turnover within two years.

At full capacity, the new press can print 10 truckloads of paper per day, just for this scenario.
